Super8AR

Super8 AR blends old and new media. It explores how we experience moments and memories in time. The still image represents a single moment—a breath—while the augmented reality (AR) activates the memory captured in Super8 film—a splice of life.

The Super8 format was released in 1965 by Kodak and was primarily used for home movies and amateur/personal filmmaking. I chose this medium because it’s small and mobile, allowing me to travel and experiment easily. Working with film reminds me to be conscious and confident, with limited time to photograph memories and images that resonate most with me. Each Super8 still contains a meaningful moment in my life that persists beyond the frame and moving images.
